<- 1995, NCIMB 13261 (Rhodococcus sp.). Isolated from: soil polluted with hydrocarbons. Taxonomy/description: shows positive result with Rhodococcus erythropolis primers in species-specific PCR; demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus erythropolis IEGM 7T. Properties: uses crude oil (153) and liquid n-alkanes (C11-C16) as a sole carbon source; transforms thioanisole (257); resistant to Pb2+ (20.0 mM), Cd2+, Cr6+, Zn2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2 or 8, 28oC).
