<- 1995, NCIMB 11277 (Rhodococcus rhodochrous). Isolated from: soil, Leicester, England. Taxonomy/description: shows positive result with Rhodococcus ruber primers in species-specific PCR; demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus ruber IEGM 70T. Properties: uses propane, n-butane and isobutane as a sole carbon source (136, 137, 138, 141); epoxides short-chain alkenes to their corresponding 1,2-epoxides (139); produces methyl ketones from 2-propanol and 2-butanol by cells grown on of C2 to C4 n-alkanes (140); resistant to Pb2+ (5.0 mM).
