Rhodococcus erythropolis (Gray and Thornton 1928) Goodfellow and Alderson 1979
<- 1980, I.B. Ivshina, IMV 556 <- O.A. Nesterenko, 556. Isolated from: oil-polluted soil, Ukraine. Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus erythropolis IEGM 7T(4); 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. Properties: uses normal hydrocarbons, aliphatic alcohols (butan-1-ol, butan-2-ol, ethanol, hexan-1-ol, octan-1-ol, pentan-1-ol, propan-1-ol, propan-2-ol, propan-1,2,3-triol), aromatic hydrocarbons (methylbenzene, naphthalene, oxybenzene, xylol) and phenylacetic acid as a sole carbon source; resistant to Pb2+ (20.0 mM), Cr6+ (10.0 mM), Cu2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 8, 15, 16, 17 or 18, 28oC).
