Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus erythropolis IEGM 7^T(4); 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. Properties: uses normal hydrocarbons, aliphatic alcohols (butan-1-ol, butan-2-ol, ethanol, hexan-1-ol, octan-1-ol, pentan-1-ol, propan-1-ol, propan-2-ol, propan-1,2,3-triol), aromatic hydrocarbons (methylbenzene, naphthalene, oxybenzene, xylol) and phenylacetic acid as a sole carbon source; resistant to Pb²⁺ (20.0 mM), Cr⁶⁺ (10.0 mM), Cu²⁺ (5.0 mM). (Medium 8, 15, 16, 17 or 18, 28^oC).
