Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus erythropolis IEGM 7T; 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. Properties: uses normal hydrocarbons, aliphatic alcohols (propan-1-ol, propan-2-ol, butan-1-ol, butan-2-ol) and aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene) as a sole carbon source; resistant to Pb2+ (20.0 mM), Cd2+, Cr6+, Cu2+, Zn2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2, 8 or 15, 28oC).
