Isolated from: soil, lavsan (polyether fibre) production, Belarus.Taxonomy/description: shows positive result with Rhodococcus opacus primers in species-specific PCR (245); 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis (GenBank accession number KM510188). Properties: transforms thioanisole (257); adheres to solid surfaces (321); uses hydrocarbons and crude oil as a sole carbon source (325, 424); degrades hydrocarbons (28, 334); used as a gel-immobilized biocatalyst (339); resistant to ethanol (349); bioremediation agent for oil-contaminated soil (427); resistant to Cu2+ (5.0 mM).
