<- 1989, I.B. Ivshina, IEGM, 14F <- A.S. Samsonova, INMI NANB, 14F. Received as: Rhodococcus erythropolis. Until 1999 preserved as Rhodococcus erhythropolis. Isolated from: soil, lavsan (polyether fibre) production, Belarus. Taxonomy/description: shows positive result with Rhodococcus opacus primers in species-specific PCR (245). Properties: adheres to liquid hydrocarbons (n-hexadecane) (320), to n-docosane, n-hexacosane, n-octacosane, n-nonacosane, n-hentriacontane, anthracene, and phenanthrene, and uses these hydrocarbons as a sole carbon and energy source (409); resistant to Pb2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2 or 8, 28oC).
