Received as: Rhodococcus opacus (den Dooren de Jong 1927) Nesterenko 1985. Isolated from: soil, meadow, Dnepropetrovsk region, Ukraine. Taxonomy/description: 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. Properties: uses n-hexadecane as a sole carbon source; transforms thioanisole (257); resistant to n-hexane, toluene, 1-butanol, ethanol (349); resistant to Mo6+, Zn2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2 or 8, 28oC).
