Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus erythropolis IEGM 7T(4). Properties: uses normal hydrocarbons, aliphatic alcohols (butan-1-ol, butan-2-ol, ethanol, octan-1-ol, propan-1-ol, propan-2-ol, propan-1,2,3-triol), aromatic hydrocarbons (naphthalene, oxybenzene) and phenylacetic acid as a sole carbon source; resistant to Mo6+ (20.0 mM), Pb2+, Zn2+ (10.0 mM), Cr6+, Cu2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2, 8, 15, 16 or 17, 28oC).
