Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus erythropolis IEGM 7^T(4); shows positive result with Rhodococcus erythropolis primers in species-specific PCR (245). Properties: uses normal hydrocarbons, aliphatic alcohols (butan-1-ol, butan-2-ol, ethanol, hexan-1-ol, octan-1-ol, propan-1-ol), aromatic hydrocarbons (naphthalene, oxybenzene, xylol) and phenylacetic acid as a sole carbon source; resistant to Mo⁶⁺ (20.0 mM), Cu²⁺, Pb²⁺ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2, 8, 15, 16, 17 or 18, 28^oC).
