Demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus erythropolis IEGM 7^T(4); shows positive result with Rhodococcus erythropolis primers in species-specific PCR (245). Properties: uses normal hydrocarbons, aliphatic alcohols (butan-2-ol, ethanol, propan-1-ol, propan-2-ol), aromatic hydrocarbons (methylbenzene, oxybenzene) and phenylacetic acid as a sole carbon source; resistant to Cr⁶⁺, Cu²⁺ (15.0 mM), Mo⁶⁺ (7.5 mM), Pb²⁺ (5.0 mM), VO₄^3- (50.0 mM), VO₃^- (>250.0 mM), accumulates molybdenum (286).
