Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus erythropolis IEGM 7T(4); shows positive result with Rhodococcus erythropolis primers in species-specific PCR (245). Properties: uses normal hydrocarbons, aliphatic alcohols (ethanol, propan-2-ol) and aromatic hydrocarbons (oxybenzene, xylol) as a sole carbon source; resistant to Pb2+ (20.0 mM), Cr6+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Zn2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2, 8, 15, 16 or 18, 28oC).
