Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus erythropolis IEGM 7T(4). Properties: uses normal hydrocarbons, aliphatic alcohols (butan-2-ol, ethanol, hexan-1-ol, octan-1-ol, pentan-1-ol, propan-1-ol, propan-2-ol), aromatic hydrocarbons (oxybenzene) and phenylacetic acid and crude oil as a sole carbon source; resistant to Pb2+ (20.0 mM), Cr6+ (10.0 mM), Cu2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2, 8, 15 or 16, 28oC).
