<- 1991, L.V. Zvereva, Ba-12. Isolated from: water, the Baykal lake, Irkutsk region, Russia. Taxonomy/description: shows positive result with Rhodococcus erythropolis primers in species-specific PCR (245); 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis (GenBank accession number KF547999) (95, 245). Properties: uses hydrocarbons as a sole carbon source; forms cholesterol oxidase; transforms β-sitosterol (263, 313, 318); resistant to Cr6+, Mo6+, Pb2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2 or 8, 28oC).
