<- 1980, I.B. Ivshina, OEGM I-780. Isolated from: snow, oilfield, Perm region, Russia. Taxonomy/description: shows positive result with Rhodococcus ruber primers in species-specific PCR (245); (95). Properties: uses propane and n-butane as a sole carbon source; produces biosurfactants when growing on n-alkanes (C12-C17) (74); resistant to lincomycin, chloramphenicol, polymyxin and oxacillin when growing on propane and n-hexadecane (90, 246); adheres to liquid hydrocarbons (n-hexadecane) (320). (Medium 2, 5, 8 or 11, 28oC).
