Rhodococcus ruber (Kruse 1896) Goodfellow and Alderson 1977

<- 1984, I.B. Ivshina, OEGM B-737. Isolated from: sandy soil, Gomel region, Belarus. Taxonomy/description: (55, 95, 96, 97, 230). Demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus ruber IEGM 70T (96). Properties: uses propane and n-butane as a sole carbon source (95); degrades dimethylphthalate, dibutylphthalate (95); resistant to lincomycin, methicillin, oxacillin, polymyxin, cephalexin and nalidixic acid when growing on propane and n-hexadecane (230, 246); transforms thioanisole (257); resistant to VO2+ (25.0 mM), VO43- (100.0 mM), VO3- (250.0 mM) (286); accumulates nickel (423). (Medium 5, 9 or 13, 28oC).
