Demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus ruber IEGM 70^T (96). Properties: uses propane and n-butane as a sole carbon source (95); degrades dimethylphthalate, dibutylphthalate (95); resistant to lincomycin, methicillin, oxacillin, polymyxin, cephalexin and nalidixic acid when growing on propane and n-hexadecane (230, 246); transforms thioanisole (257); resistant to VO²⁺ (25.0 mM), VO₄^3- (100.0 mM), VO₃^- (250.0 mM) (286); accumulates nickel (423).
