<- 1984, I.B. Ivshina, OEGM T-63v. Isolated from: surface water reservoir, the Taimir peninsula, Krasnoyarsk region, Russia. Taxonomy/description: (22, 55, 230). Properties: uses propane, n-butane, liquid n-alkanes (C5-C16) and aliphatic alcohols (ethanol, n-propanol, n-butanol) as a sole carbon source; resistant to lincomycin, methicillin, oxacillin, polymyxin, cephalexin and nalidixic acid when growing on propane and n-hexadecane (230, 246); accumulates caesium ions (251); transforms β-sitosterol (263, 277); resistant to Cr6+, Pb2+ (10.0 mM), Cu2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 5, 8 or 15, 28oC).
