<- 1980, I.B. Ivshina, IMV 59 <- O.A. Nesterenko, 59. Isolated from: oil-polluted soil, Ukraine. Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus erythropolis IEGM 7T(4). Properties: uses normal hydrocarbons, aliphatic alcohols (butan-1-ol, butan-2-ol, ethanol, hexan-1-ol, octan-1-ol, pentan-1-ol, propan-1-ol, propan-2-ol), aromatic hydrocarbons (methylbenzene, oxybenzene) and phenylacetic acid as a sole carbon source; resistant to Cr6+, Mo6+, Ni2+, Zn2+ (10.0 mM), Cu2+, Pb2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2, 8, 15 or 16, 28oC).
