Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus erythropolis IEGM 7T(96); shows positive result with Rhodococcus erythropolis primers in species-specific PCR (245); 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis (GenBank accession number KY176370) (95, 96, 245). Properties: uses hydrocarbons and aromatic acids (p-oxybenzoic, phenylacetic) as a sole carbon source (92); transforms β-sitosterol (318); resistant to Mo6+ (20.0 mM), Ni2+ (10.0 mM), Cr6+, Cu2+, Pb2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2 or 8, 28oC).
