<- 1987, I.B. Ivshina, OEGM 6 Pe. Isolated from: water, the Upper Ilitch river, Russia. Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus ruber IEGM 70T (96); shows positive result with Rhodococcus ruber primers in species-specific PCR (245); (95). Properties: uses propane, n-butane (95) and liquid n-alkanes (C5-C7, C11-C16) (236) as a sole carbon source; produces biosurfactants when growing on n-alkanes (C10-C17) (45, 146, 235); exhibits antilysozyme activity; adheres to liquid hydrocarbons (n-hexadecane) (320); resistant to 1-butanol, ethanol (349); resistant to Pb2+ (5.0 mM).
