<- 1986, I.B. Ivshina, OEGM B-523. Isolated from: chalk rock (depth 80 m), Gomel region, Belarus. Taxonomy/description: (95, 97). Properties: uses propane, n-butane and liquid n-alkanes (C5-C16) as a sole carbon source; accumulates caesium ions (251); produces biosurfactants when growing on n-hexadecane (327); uses n-hexadecane as a sole carbon source (327); resistant to Cr6+ (10.0 mM), Cu2+, Ni2+, Pb2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2, 5 or 8, 28oC).
