<- 1986, I.B. Ivshina, OEGM IK-79. Isolated from: the Ordovik age sand soil, Irkutsk region, Easten Siberia,  Russia. Taxonomy/description: (22, 23, 55, 90, 245, 303). Shows positive result with Rhodococcus ruber primers in species-specific PCR (245); 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis (303). Properties: uses propane, n-butane and n-hexadecane as a sole carbon source (55); produces biosurfactants when growing on n-alkanes (C₁₂-C₁₇) (74); resistant to Cr⁶⁺, Pb²⁺ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2, 5, 8 or 11, 28^oC).
