<- 1984, I.B. Ivshina, OEGM U-1684. Isolated from: core sample 16 m deep, Uljanovsk region, Russia. Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus ruber IEGM 70T (22, 23, 95, 96); 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis (303). Properties: uses propane, n-butane and n-hexadecane as a sole carbon source (95); resistant to lincomycin, methicillin, oxacillin, polymyxin, cephalexin and nalidixic acid when growing on propane and n-hexadecane (246); resistant to Pb2+ (10.0 mM), Cu2+ (5.0 mM). (Medium 2, 5 or 8, 28oC).
