Taxonomy/description: demonstrates the reaction of complete identity with polyclonal antiserum against Rhodococcus ruber IEGM 70^T (96); (22, 55, 95). Properties: uses propane, n-butane, liquid n-alkanes (C₅-C₁₆) and aliphatic alcohols (ethanol, n-propanol, n-butanol) as a sole carbon source (95); grows on medium with 30 mM cadmium (47); resistant to lincomycin, methicillin, polymyxin and nalidixic acid when growing on propane and n-hexadecane (246); transforms thioanisole (257); resistant to Cr⁶⁺ (10.0 mM), Pb²⁺ (5.0 mM). (Medium 5, 8 or 15, 28^oC).
